HIALEAH, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are searching for the man responsible for a shooting in a Hialeah neighborhood that claimed the life of another man, Saturday evening.

Hialeah Police responded to the scene of the shooting along West 28th Street, near West Okeechobee Road, at around 7:15 p.m. Investigators said shots were fired near the rear of the Rainbow Inn Motel, which backs up to a residential neighborhood.

The 33-year-old victim was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Area residents said they were shocked by the shooting. “Yes, of course, imagine. One lives here, and it’s a calm neighborhood,” said area resident Julia De La Rivera through a translator. “We have a hotel over there where people live with low income, but they’re calm people. They’re not bad.”

Detectives said they are working multiple leads, and they believe the gunman may have known the victim. However, they have not established a motive.
