MIAMI (WSVN) - Police said a man confessed to killing a woman who was found dead inside her home in Wynwood, Thursday afternoon.

Miami Police responded to the residence in the area of the 3400 block of Northwest First Avenue in Wynwood.

According to officials, Carlos Enriquez-Polledo walked into the police station Thursday afternoon and admitted to killing his significant other. Police then went to the victim’s home where they found her body.

The victim’s family was at the home and told 7News that the victim was 28 years old and traveled to the U.S. from Puerto Rico nearly a year and a half ago. The victim also has an 8-year-old daughter, they said.

Family members worked to make sense of the situation. “Went and knocked on the door. For some reason, went inside the apartment and stabbed her one time, I do believe was in the heart, it was a fatal wound,” said the victim’s cousin. Victor Sorer. “You don’t know when it’s gonna happen and when it’s gonna touch you. I never think it was gonna happen to me, but today it’s my family.”

The body has since been transported off the scene. The victim’s name was not released as yet.

Officials said Enriquez-Polledo is being held without bond.

Police also said they are not looking for any other suspects.
