MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida man is behind bars after, police said, he shot and killed a customer at a Miami Gardens gas station, early Saturday.

Twenty-three-year-old Emanuel Hilton has been charged with second-degree murder. Investigators said he shot a man in the head after a physical altercation at the Exxon station near 169th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue, at around 12:45 a.m.

Responding officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced him dead.

The victim’s family told 7News they are in shock. “He was a young man that, like any other young man, wasn’t perfect, but he didn’t bother nobody, and he wasn’t a violent person,” said Stephanie Daniels, his cousin.

The suspect later surrendered at the Miami Gardens Police Department and confessed to the murder. He is being held without bond.
