JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man has been arrested after authorities say he disabled a video camera in a police interrogation room after his neighbor was murdered.

Homicide detectives brought in 24-year-old Darnell Eugene Johnson for questioning Thursday. Johnson is not a suspect in his neighbor’s death, but authorities said they wanted to talk to him.

Shirley Blakely’s son found her dying on the bedroom floor Wednesday. Authorities say her last words were a man’s nickname and she pointed next door. A few days earlier, her home was targeted in a drive-by shooting.

The Florida Times-Union reports Johnson was brought in for questioning the next day. Jacksonville Sheriff’s officials say at some point over the next few hours, the face plate and camera lens were removed from a camera in the interrogation room.

He is charged with criminal mischief.
