FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A man and his girlfriend have been arrested and charged for the murder of the man’s 2-year-old girl.
Larry Donte Haynes and his girlfriend, Amber McCray, appeared in bond court, Saturday. Both have been charged with the first-degree murder of Haynes’ 2-year-old child, Za’mya Williams.
Williams’ mother is happy that an arrest has finally been made. “They got him,” said Shanika Williams. “Justice is finally coming. Seven long, long, long months.”
The toddler was found unconscious at the suspects’ Fort Lauderdale home in the early hours of Nov. 19, after 911 was called.
Police said the child had suffered severe internal injuries caused by blunt force trauma. She died three days later.
Haynes had previously been arrested during the investigation for not paying child support.
