MIAMI (WSVN) - A new era has begun for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Day one on the job for Miami-Dade schools’ new superintendent is done.
Dr. Jose Dotres reported for duty Monday and paid a special visit to his old stomping grounds at M.A. Milam K-8 Center and Hialeah Gardens Elementary.
“I went back and visited two of the schools that I believe made me the person I am today,” said Dotres. “I felt that selecting the two that I had the most interaction with in terms of teachers and support staff, that I was able to thank them.”
He also met with students, teachers and staff at both schools.
Dotres served as a principal at Hialeah Gardens and was an assistant principal at Milam K-8.
Dotres replaced former superintendent Alberto Carvalho, who also began his job as the leader of the public school system in Los Angeles on Monday.
