BAL HARBOUR, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida organization sought inspiration from classic children’s literature while hosting its annual luncheon in Bal Harbour, Thursday.

7News anchor Lynn Martinez emceed the fifth annual Haute Tea luncheon, benefitting diabetes research for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

This year’s theme was “The Secret Garden,” where guests wore their finest garden-inspired headwear.

“Every year, the women get so excited to come and put on their hats and support diabetes research,” said organizer Lauren Geduld.

Fellow organizer Stacey Gibb said participants really get into the spirit of each luncheon’s theme. “We always have a prize for the best hat and overall outfit of the day, so it gets really exciting,” she said.

The event was put together by the Young Society of Love and Hope, which is committed to raising diabetes awareness and finding a cure.
