SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A homeowner has a few words for a group of bandits who stole precious statues from his Southwest Miami-Dade home.

While Juan Carrera and his family slept inside their Southwest Miami-Dade home, thieves went to work stealing their two lion statues, Tuesday. “That person poses a danger, not only to my home, but to everyone in the community because he’s out there,” Carrera said.

Carrera said he purchased the statues seven years ago in New York. “They’re outdoor ornaments, they’re not as important as my safety, and I’m more concerned with the fact that we were burglarized,” he said.

Carrera is hoping that by releasing the surveillance video, someone will recognize the subjects. “I’m sure somebody knows them,” he said. “I’m sure anyone who knows them will immediately recognize them on video because it’s pretty clear.”

The victim wants his property back, but he’s more concerned with public safety. “I’d like to be able to recover them, but I’d like to also make sure these guys get arrested,” Carrera said.

If you have any information on this crime, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
