MIAMI (WSVN) - A party for middle and high school students at the King of Diamonds strip club in Miami has suddenly been canceled after local government officials and community leaders forcefully put an end to it.

According to officials, numerous state representatives, community leaders and county commissioners joined together with the City of North Miami’s mayor and North Miami Beach Mayor George Vallejo, Thursday, to alert the community that a “teen party” at an adult entertainment strip club was inappropriate and irresponsible.

“King of Diamonds, which is an adult entertainment strip club should not have anyone in the club under 18. My office has received calls from parents who are very upset that this would of have been allowed to happen,” said State Representative Barbara Watson. “This sends the wrong message to our youth and should not be allowed to happen. According to the Department of Justice, South Florida is the third busiest area for sex trafficking. This does not help in any way. We are not trying to interfere with KOD’s business, however when it affects minors, we have to speak up”.

The party, which had a flyer that stated “One Night Only: Summer Teen Edition,” spread across Instagram and Facebook and claimed to be scheduled in honor of the last day of classes.

Once news broke of the party, it was immediately canceled.

“It is with great sadness and disappointment that I am advised of an event that may entice and harm the youth in our community. As a public servant, our duty is to provide the safe and nourishing environment for the children in our cities,” stated Mayor Dr. Smith Jospeh of the City of North Miami.

The teen party was originally promoted by TRAP Music Ent. to middle and high schools in Miami-Dade and Broward County.

According to posts on Instagram and other social media channels, the tickets were on sale from April 8-May 20, 2016. The underlying issue of a teen party in a strip club remains a concern with local officials.
