FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Jury selection began in Fort Lauderdale, Monday, in the case against a woman accused of killing her boyfriend, a City of Miami Police officer.

Tiniko Thompson is charged with second-degree murder and could face a life sentence if convicted. She has publicly admitted to killing 52-year-old Carl Patrick back in May of 2014, but she has claimed she acted in self-defense.

Patrick’s body was discovered two days later, at the couple’s Pembroke Pines home.
