A homicide investigation is underway in Unincorporated Broward County after an alleged burglary gone wrong.

Around 3:30 a.m., Wednesday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a home along the 500 block of N.W. 30th Terr. That is where they discovered the body of an adult male.

Police said a witness saw a man dressed in black in a backyard. That man then forced his way into the home where he was shot and killed. “The man that approached the home began a confrontation with the person who lives in the home,” said BSO spokesperson Gina Carter. “It started outside the home, but then moved into the home when the subject forced his way into the house.”

Locals in the area said their neighborhood used to be a quiet one, but it has changed a lot in recent years. “This neighborhood is gone man,” said one neighbor.

One man, who was seen coming out of the area blocked off by crime scene tape told 7News his neighbor was forced to shoot an intruder who tried to break into his home.

“They killed somebody at the house across the street from us,” said another neighbor.

Authorities have not yet identified the person who opened fire or the alleged burglar.
