HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - A mother in Hollywood said she’s concerned for her family after, she said, a man showed up at her house three times in three days, and police are asking for the public’s help identifying him.

The mother, who did not want to be named or show her face on camera, said she was having a garage sale at her Hollywood home, Saturday, when an older man showed up. “He walked straight towards the garage where we were sitting, didn’t really look at any of the items we were selling and just kind of stood there, and stared at us,” she said. “My daughter was behind us and he seemed very interested in her, peeking over our shoulder, I was trying to make conversation with him.”

She said the stranger said their pizza looked good and left, then drove up and down her street in a beige van.

The next day, the woman said, the stranger returned and drove by several times before approaching her garage sale again. She told him he needed to get off her property because he clearly wasn’t interested in purchasing anything again.

“He again just peered over me as if he was looking for something, and then he left,” she said. “He drove up and down one more time, and he saw my daughter again and said her name, and waved at her. He must have heard me referring to her.”

On Monday, she said, he knocked on their front door and showed up on their surveillance camera. “My son just overheard him saying ‘Are you there?'” she said. “And, of course, no one opened the door, but it just became very concerning at that point.”

The mother said she reported the man to Hollywood Police because she doesn’t feel safe. “I guess my biggest concern is that he could literally be watching us,” she said. “I don’t know what his intentions are.”

Police officers were at the house on Wednesday. In a statement, they described the man as a male, approximately 50 to 65 years of age, “balding, wearing glasses, dark shirt, dark pants, sneakers, driving a beige GMC.”

The statement further read, “The Hollywood Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is asking for the public’s assistance to identify the subject and subject vehicle for questioning with regard to this incident.”

The mother said she doesn’t know whether the man is “sick,” but just wants him to stay away from her house. “I have no ill will towards the man. I just want him to stay away from my house,” she said. “I hope that if he is just old and sick, he would get the help that he needs.”

If you have any information on this man, call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-967-4357.
