POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — Four families are now moving into new Pompano Beach homes built by Habitat for Humanity of Broward and JM Family Enterprises.

For one of the new home owners, Toshiba Hinds, the feeling is unbelievable. “It feels great to be able to pull up and walk in your own front door,” she said. “For the last two years, there’s been a lot of sweat, painting, landscaping and a lot of other things.”

“As an organization, Habitat, we just want to build homes. I call it paying it forward and building a better Broward,” said Habitat for Humanity of Broward Chairman Bill Feinberg.

It took 190 volunteers who spent more than 25,000 hours over seven weekends to build, paint and landscape, alongside the new homes. “We have been working on these homes for almost a year and the opportunity to really put four families in a beautiful home here in Broward County,” Feinberg said.

The dedication ceremony included two single-family homes and Habitat for Humanity’s first duplex. JM Family Enterprises sponsored the homes — contributing $75,000 to each one. “This is our 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st homes that we have sponsored,” said Colin Brown, the CEO and President of JM Family Enterprises.

Brown said they are proud to be a part of the project. “When you think about the countless hours of hard work, sweat, maybe even tears that these family members have had and the excitement they have to suddenly be looking at their homes and being able to walk into it for the first time,” he said. “It just makes us very, very proud that we were associated with it.”

WSVN is a proud sponsor of Habitat for Humanity.
