NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Witnesses to a Northwest Miami-Dade gunfight, Monday night, said they saw everything that put two victims in the hospital.

According to a witness, family and friends sang “Happy Birthday” at an 11-year-old girl’s party before the fighting and gunshots began. “I just got my bike,” said the 11-year-old girl. “I wanted to ride it for my birthday and, just, chaos had to start.”

The girl’s mother, Audrey Finnie, said she got into a fight with another mother at her daughter’s party and both ended up in the parking lot of their apartment complex at 1225 N.W. 103rd Lane.

What the mothers didn’t expect were bullets allegedly being fired by two gunmen. “Me and another girl got into an altercation, a fight,” said Finnie. “The guy from the third floor came down. He shot once. I seen the other guy … His friend went to shoot.”

Investigators said 23-year-old Jessica Jean was shot in the head and 27-year-old Calvin Wright was shot in the chest and arm.

Finnie believes the two victims were in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

Finnie also said she had a handgun pointed at her during the exchange. “He aimed the gun at me and went to shooting,” said Finnie. “My brother pulled me around the back. I’m all scraped up.”

Investigators said the shooting occurred in the same neighborhood where 6-year-old King Carter was fatally gunned down, Feb. 20. Police said the boy was hit by a stray bullet in this same area as Monday’s shooting.

“This is very dangerous,” said Finnie. “I think, like, ‘OK, girls fighting.’ OK — what do any guy have to do with it? Why are they even bringing guns out here when they just seen what happened to baby King.”

There are no known motives for this latest shooting, but police are searching for a man and a woman, who, officials said, fled into the street and haven’t been seen since.

Both victims are excepted to be OK, according to officials.
