POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - As crowds flocked to the Fort Lauderdale Gun Show this weekend, some gun owners across South Florida turned over their firearms.

At the Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach Substation, owners had the opportunity to swap their guns for gift cards worth up to $200. About 20 rifles, shotguns and revolvers were turned in, Saturday morning.

Officials promised a no hassle, no questions asked police.

Meanwhile, Opa-locka Police hosted its biannual gun buyback initiative outside New Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, near Northwest 150th Street and 27th Avenue, Saturday.

Another Opa-locka buyback event is scheduled for December.
