WESTON, FLA. (WSVN) - - A popularly-known blimp flew over several South Florida hospitals to give praise to healthcare workers.
The Goodyear Blimp Wingfoot Two kicked off the tour by flying over Cleveland Clinic in Weston at around 12 p.m. Friday.
The blimp completed a three-hour journey while flying over Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and Broward Health Medical and Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale before landing in Pompano Beach.
The 246-foot long blimp is typically featured at high-profile sporting events.
Dr. Alex Espinosa, the COO of Cleveland Clinic Weston, said, “We are very grateful for Goodyear to really show appreciation to all of our caregivers.”
Dr. Joshua Lenchus, the Chief Medical Officer at Broward Health Medical Center said, “It’s incredibly beneficial for us; it’s really meaningful.”
Earlier this month, the Blue Angels flew from Boca Raton to Miami in a similar show of support.
Espinosa said, “The team has done a great job throughout this pandemic, not missing a beat, providing care, sacrificing time away from their family, to really dedicate their time for their community and their patients.”
Fighter jets and coast guard choppers will take to the skies tomorrow, with a flyover expected to last several hours.
