PLANTATION KEY, Fla. (WSVN) — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rescued a manatee in distress over the weekend.

Locals notified officials about the injured sea cow near a dock in Plantation Key, Saturday morning.

Upon their arrival, officials noticed the manatee could not swim or use one of its fins. It also had a big scar as well as paint on its back.

The animal was transported to the Miami Seaquarium for evaluation and treatment.
