MIAMI (WSVN) - Former Opa-locka city manager David Chiverton has been sentenced to over three years in prison.

Chiverton appeared in court, Monday morning, just two months after pleading guilty in his federal corruption case.

U.S. District Court Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga sentenced Chiverton to 38 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release and eight months of home detention.

Chiverton was also ordered to forfeit $7,600 to the United States.

Back in March, dozens of FBI agents raided Opa-locka City Hall following a three-year investigation that alleged Chiverton and other officials pocketed thousands of dollars in illegal kickbacks from business owners for building, zoning and code enforcement favors.

Chiverton resigned from his position in July.

Other indictments are expected to surface, according to the city.
