STOCK ISLAND, Fla. (WSVN) – A 30-year-old Fort Lauderdale man was arrested on Sunday after he stole a Jeep from a marina on Stock Island, authorities said.

Ross James Lund now faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hurricane Hole Restaurant, Bar & Marina around 1:30 p.m., regarding a stolen vehicle. The vehicle’s keys had reportedly been left inside. According to MCSO, witnesses observed Lund entering the Jeep and driving away. He allegedly told one witness that he needed to head to Miami and inquired about other vehicles in the parking lot.

Shortly after, the Sheriff’s Office spotted the stolen Jeep traveling northbound on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 29, with Lund as the sole occupant. Lund admitted to the theft and was taken into custody without any resistance.

On Oct. 4, Lund was arrested on charges of trespassing at Key West International Airport.
