JUST OFF KEY WEST, Fla. (WSVN) — The coast guard helped several migrants off the coast of the Florida Keys.
On Monday, just before 5:30 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast tweeted about a vessel just 40 miles off the coast of Key West.
They spotted a boat overfilled with migrants that started to take on water. Moments later, a coast guard cutter safely rescued the group.
Search and rescue teams encouraged people to avoid the ocean to arrive in America illegally by using the #DontTakeToTheSea in their post.
