NICEVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Panhandle authorities have charged a man with domestic violence-related murder in the stabbing death of his 3-year-old son.
According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office report, the child’s mother found 61-year-old Frederick Franken on the floor in their Niceville home on March 15.
Investigators said Franken had a knife in his hand with his arms around Frederick Franken Jr.
The report said the boy had been stabbed multiple times and Franken had multiple self-inflicted knife wounds.
The sheriff’s office said Franken remained hospitalized Saturday.
He was charged after refusing to speak with investigators Thursday. It was not known whether he had retained an attorney.
