VENICE, Fla. (WSVN) — Police dash cameras in southwest Florida captured an incredible sight: a huge streak of bright light across the night sky.

Police in Venice, about an hour south of Tampa, shared dash cam footage that caught the massive fireball Monday night.

North Port Police also posted the incredible video on social media from two of their patrol car cameras.

The American Meteorological Society received 93 reports across west and central Florida, of what scientists believe was a meteor entering Earth’s atmosphere.
