According to Miami Fire Rescue, the blaze broke out at the recently opened East Miami Hotel. Smoke could be seen spotted from the eighth and ninth floors of the condo, office and retail complex, parts of which are still under construction.
Firefighters staged along South Miami Avenue and Southeast Seventh Street were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
The fire was caused by a generator malfunction, according to fire rescue officials.
No one was hurt.
