WILTON MANORS, Fla. (WSVN) — The family members of a man struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver are making a plea for justice, Thursday.
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide detectives, 39-year-old Raymond King was already injured and bleeding when he was run over by an unidentified vehicle just after 3 a.m.
The driver did not stay at the scene.
Authorities and family members want to find that driver and figure out what caused King to be injured. “I don’t know what to say,” said the victim’s sister, Bonnie Ostenso. “I’m just totally baffled right now. My baby brother — I don’t know. Just drove three and a half hours to be here and find out nothing.”
He was at a bar near his home, called The Hunter’s Club, the night before he died. “I am just devastated that anybody could do that,” said the victim’s sister-in-law, Lynn King, “because you had to know. You had to know you hit something. You had to know, and if you just stop, it could’ve made a difference.”
Police said the driver was going about 30 miles per hour when King was struck.
The impact sent his body flying more than 30 feet from where he was hit, according to police.
If you have any information on this hit-and-run, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
