MIAMI (WSVN) - A family is hoping that advances in technology will lead to the arrest of a person who took the life of an elderly woman, nearly two decades ago.

Police said someone broke into the Miami home of 81-year-old Milda Grabis in 1998 and shot her in the face.

Despite rounds of rehabilitation, Grabis did not survive.

Her relatives are now hopeful there’s a way to identify the shooter. “Now that it is 20 years later, there are tech innovations, there are new ways for police to revisit this and get a fresh eye on the case,” said Grabis’ grandson Michael.

Detectives believe it may have been a robbery gone wrong.

If you have any information that can help police solve this cold case, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
