WILTON MANORS, FLA. (WSVN) - South Florida families in need are receiving holiday food baskets for Thanksgiving dinner.

The Wilton Manors Police Department and the Over Easy Cafe in Oakland Park passed out food baskets, Monday.

Thanks to an outpouring of donations from people throughout the community, they were able to fill them with all the fixings a family needs to have a great Thanksgiving.

“To partner with them and to help out the community, help out different families to give them a brighter Thanksgiving, everyone deserves it,” said Wilton Manors Police Officer Jennifer Bickhardt.

Katia Simbert, who received a basket, is grateful for the help. “I’m thankful they’re giving a basket to me and my kids,” she said. “We are going to enjoy it.”

Officials, along with the cafe, passed out more than 100 baskets, which is more than any previous year.
