CORAL GABLES, FLA. (WSVN) - An elderly woman was robbed at gunpoint inside the parking garage of the Village of Merrick Park.

Surveillance video captured the man, April 24, dressed in a gray hoodie, seemingly pacing through the garage in search of a victim. Then, once he witnessed the elderly woman entering her vehicle, he placed a silver handgun directly in front of her face, demanded that she hand him her purse and then took off, according to police.

The incident occurred in the parking garage at the Village of Merrick Park off of Ponce de Leon Boulevard, at around 7:45 p.m.

“It could be your mother or your sister,” said Coral Gables Police Officer Kelly Denham. “The terror that she went through of having a weapon stuck in her face and not knowing if she’s going to survive is very traumatizing. That’s something that she’ll never, ever get over. But we need to take him out of his course of action before he does it to somebody else.”

Hours later, surveillance video surfaced of the man using the woman’s credit card multiple times at a Target located off of Biscayne Boulevard. He was accompanied by another man and was wearing the same clothes.

Police are asking the public to come forward with any information that may lead to arrests. If you know of this man, or the second person of interest, please call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
