SUNRISE, FLA. (WSVN) - A driver was killed and a family was forced out of their home after, officials said, a car crashed into a home in Sunrise, early Sunday.

Sunrise Police responded to the scene of the accident near Northwest 29th Street and 120th Way, at around 2 a.m.

A neighbor told 7News he heard a loud boom. “The car hit the wall so hard it knocked a good chunk of concrete out of the wall, from the roof all the way down to the floor,” said Mike Brand.

The man behind the wheel did not survive.

No one inside the home was hurt. However, they were displaced due to the structural damage their residence sustained.

Sunday afternoon, the residents returned to the scene of the crash. They said the driver crashed into an empty guest bedroom, and they are hoping to be able to move back in soon.
