SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A driver was rushed to the hospital after, officials said, his car plunged into a canal in Southwest Miami-Dade, Saturday morning.
Fire rescue divers pulled the motorist from the vehicle that crashed into the Snapper Creek Canal, located near Southwest 97th Avenue.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief John Meic said an off-duty officer was the first person on the scene. “He got in the water, tried to make a search and rescue on his own. We showed up, and he got out of the water,” he said. “One of our drivers got in the water and they were able to get in the vehicle, and they did find one victim that they pulled out.”
The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
