ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s Orlando apartment and stabbing her while she was sleeping.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies tell news outlets that 18-year-old Shawn Nguyen is facing a number of charges, including attempted homicide and armed kidnapping.
Deputies say the woman was sleeping in her apartment at the Whisper Palms complex Saturday night when Nguyen broke in, stabbing her several times.
Sheriff’s office Capt. Angelo Nieves says the victim fought back and injured the suspect. Deputies say she then ran to a neighbor’s for help and Nguyen fled.
He was later arrested and treated for his injuries. Deputies did not release the condition of the victim.
Authorities say the victim and the suspect used to be in a relationship. It’s unclear if Nguyen has an attorney.
