AVENTURA, Fla. (WSVN) — Police said rainy weather was to blame for a crash in Aventura that sent a bicyclist to the hospital, Monday night.
Aventura Police responded to the scene of the crash along the 3500 block of the William Lehman Causeway, just before 7:30 p.m.
According to investigators, the driver of a newer model, four-door BMW sedan lost control due to the inclement weather and ended up on the bike lane. Moments later, the motorist struck the wall and then hit the adult cyclist.
Paramedics transported the victim to Aventura Hospital in critical condition.
Monday night, police said, the cyclist had no ID on them and remains unconscious at the hospital.
The driver, who was not injured, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
As of 10 p.m., one eastbound lane of the causeway remained blocked to traffic.
