DANIA BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Two men broke into a Dania Beach restaurant, early Sunday, but all they took was an empty cash register.

Cameras rolled as the subjects used tools to bust their way inside the Tropical Acres Steakhouse, located at 2500 Griffin Road, just after 1:30 a.m.

Once inside, the crooks broke down office doors and ransacked the business. “They came in here with their flashlights,” said restaurant owner Jack Studiale as he showed 7News one of the offices.

Studiale said the perpetrators acted fast. “They did a substantial amount of damage, and they left in about a minute and 40 seconds,” he said. “They were in and out.”

Studiale said the burglars didn’t find anything of value until they were walking out. “Upon leaving, they saw the cash register in the lobby, so they took that, but there was nothing in the drawer,” he said, “so they found that out probably sooner then later.”

Studiale said, although he’s happy the crooks didn’t get away with any cash, he still has to repair several doors that sustained damage.

The owner said the burglars also stole the staff’s sense of security. “Numerous people want to step up, and that’s just this atmosphere here that we have with our family, our staff,” said Studiale.

If you have any information on this break-in or the subjects’ whereabouts, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
