SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A crook attempted to break into a Southwest Miami-Dade business, Tuesday morning, by using a sledgehammer.

According to police, around 5 a.m., someone attempted to enter a check cashing store near U.S. 1 and Southwest 204th Street by using the large hammer. Once employees arrived at work, they saw a massive hole on the side of the building and immediately called police.

Police believe an alarm spooked the criminal away before they were able to steal anything. Store employee Yaneisy Blanca said, “You’re going to break a wall, to come inside and take the money, but they couldn’t take anything, so that’s good.”

The subject remains at large. If you have any information on his whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
