FORT LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLA. (WSVN) - Crews began clearing the FedEx cargo plane that caught fire Friday afternoon at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport from the runway, Monday.

The plane had been on Runway 10, located next to Interstate 595 at the east end of the airport, since catching fire when it landed. The blaze caused extensive damage to the aircraft and runway.

No one was hurt.

Monday afternoon, the National Transportation Safety Board and investigators determined that the plane was safe to move. Crews placed the aircraft on a flatbed, then backed it down the runway to the northwest corner of the airport, where service and inspections will continue on the plane.

The part of the runway where the plane caught fire is still under repair, and is closed down. Once an inspection is completed, it is expected to be cleared for use again.

The Federal Aviation Administration continues to investigate the fire.
