MIAMI (AP) — Authorities say two Miami-Dade County employees stole money intended to help poor people pay their electricity bills.

The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/OQHbGp) reports that Iraida Macias and Earlene Finney face multiple charges, including official misconduct, organized scheme to defraud and grand theft.

Prosecutors said Friday that the Miami-Dade Inspector General’s Office began investigating the two Community Action Agency workers after an anonymous tip. Authorities say Macias used $4,100 in the federal funds to help her pay her own Florida Power and Light bill, and Finney used $6,212.

Jail records didn’t list attorneys for Macias and Finney.
