CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) - The Coral Springs Police Department, alongside James S. Hunt Elementary School, is teaching South Florida children about safety while having fun at summer camp.
“This is the first school in Broward County that has done this program in conjunction with a police department,” said Hunt Elementary Principal Ernie. W. Lozano. “We are so fortunate here at James S. Hunt Elementary to have a police department like the City of Coral Springs.”
The officers at the camp not only mentor the children, but they get to play with them as well.
“She really enjoys coming to the program,” said Magdaline Exantus, whose children attend the summer camp. “They have a lot of activities that they do. For example, they do fire prevention and also burglary and internet safety, so she really enjoys it and she comes every day and tells me how she really enjoys the program.”
