LAUDERHILL, FLA. (WSVN) - Lauderhill Police are investigating after a car collided with an ambulance late Friday night.

According to officials, the emergency vehicle was traveling with its lights and sirens on when the SUV struck it last night. Witnesses say the ambulance had the right of way.

“The ambulance was coming, and then I seen the car over there trying to beat the ambulance and next thing I know, the ambulance is coming towards me,” said witness Tiffany Harper.

The accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 50th Street and University Drive.

“The two paramedics inside the ambulance were taken to the hospital with minor injuries,” said Asst. Lauderhill Fire Chief Jeff Levy. “The driver of the vehicle that struck the ambulance denied any injuries on scene.”

No one else was hurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
