PEMBROKE PINES, FLA. (WSVN) - A family is speaking out after a speeding SUV slammed into their living room while a mother of two was sitting on the couch at their Pembroke Pines home.

The woman was home with her two kids when the car smashed the house Saturday, filling it with smoke and fear of the fate for the other.

“You don’t expect a car to come crashing into your house,” said Johnier Marquez.

But that’s exactly what happened Saturday afternoon at the Marquez family home when a Jeep came flying in off Southwest 72nd Avenue.

The surveillance footage showed the car just disappearing into the house.

“Then I came outside of my room and I saw a bunch of smoke in the house and I saw the car in my living room,” Johnier said.

Mrs. Marquez was even closer to the action, resting on the couch. The car came within inches of hitting her.

“That was God. That’s the only reason I can be alive,” said the mother. “That was God because the car, it was right by the sofa where I was sitting.”

A teenager was behind the wheel. Moments after the crash, he crawled out of the hole he made, seemingly OK.

“He seemed like a young kid and he was scared,” Johnier said.

The Marquezes just recently remodeled the house. Now they’ll have to do it all again, but at least they’re OK.

“I don’t really care about the house. I mean I do, but at the end of the day what matters is my family. Their lives are more important than anything,” Johnier said.

The teen responsible for the crash is facing charges.
