FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A scaffolding collapse at a Fort Lauderdale construction site sent three people to the hospital.
Emergency responders arrived at the construction site, located along the 400 block of Southwest 27th Avenue, Thursday morning.
Paramedics transported the victims to the hospital. Officials said two of the patients are in critical condition while the third is in stable condition.
“We have easy access, we have patient contact on all three patients,” said a dispatcher over Broadcastify Police Scanner.
The three injured individuals were construction workers.
“I think it was an accident,” said Eva Santana, who lives across the street from the collapse.
She said the commotion woke her up.
“I saw two men being put on gurneys and loaded up on ambulances,” said Santana.
Live footage showed scaffolding equipment and wooden planks scattered on the ground. It is unclear what caused this collapse.
Construction on the site has been temporarily stopped as the investigation continues. Building inspectors are expected to arrive at the scene.
