LAUDERDALE LAKES, FLA. (WSVN) - Newly obtained dash cam footage sheds light on a high-speed chase involving a Honda Accord that unfolded in Plantation around 3:30 in the morning, eventually ending in Lauderdale Lakes.
The video captures the moment when Plantation police officers spotted the blue Honda Accord zooming past them. With lights flashing, the officers pursued the vehicle as it weaved through traffic.
The suspect attempted to escape by making a daring U-turn at an intersection and swerving between police vehicles.
The chase came to an end when the Honda Accord was cornered inside a shopping plaza near Oakland Park Boulevard and Northwest 38th Avenue in Lauderdale Lakes.
A significant law enforcement presence, including dozens of Plantation police officers, BSO deputies, and K9 units, surrounded the vehicle. Additionally, a police helicopter circled above.
One person was detained and placed in a squad car, but the charges they may face remain unclear. Plantation police have yet to release detailed information about the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the high-speed chase and the actions of the detained individual.
