HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - Crews are working to extinguish a house fire in Hollywood.

Hollywood Fire Rescue responded to the scene, located in the area of 2900 Wiley Street just after 4 p.m., Tuesday.

Aerial footage from 7Skyforce showed flames and thick smoke billowing from the single-family house.

According to officials, the house was vacant when crews arrived. The home is badly burned.

On Tuesday evening, 7News cameras captured the homeowner returning home and speaking to firefighters.

It appears it was a hoarding house as there was tons of debris, plastic, wraps all around the house, making it difficult for firefighters to fight the flames.

Video shared with 7News shows smoke blowing over Interstate-95 at the northbound entrance ramp.

“I thought it was a car that caught on fire on I-95, but as I got closer, and I turned into my neighborhood, I noticed it was my neighbor,” said Sherlyne Clesitor, who witnessed the fire on I-95.

Crews have gotten the upper hand on the flames. The smoke has dissipated to some degree.

Firefighters have used so much water to contain the fire that nearby streets began to flood on Tuesday evening.

Neighbors said that although the house was vacant at the time of the fire, they believe the homeowner tends to keep many items stacked up to the ceiling in the home.

“I was having like a panic attack,” said Luke Orbsten, who lives in next door to the burning home. “We got a call from our neighbor saying ‘Your house is on fire!’ and we were like ‘What?'”

“It’s sad to say that when he comes home, he’s going to come home to nothing,” said Clesitor.

They also said they have been complaining about the house to the City of Hollywood for months.

A drone video, obtained exclusively by 7News, shows the home a month before the fire. The drone filmed the backyard which was filled with random garbage bags.

The messy home can even be seen from Google Maps’ satellite image from space, showing all the bags and boxes placed around his house.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

The homeowner denied 7News’ request for an interview.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
