NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office has taken two suspects into custody who are accused of being involved in an armed robbery.

According to deputies, they received a call about an armed robbery along the 4800 block of Northwest 24th Court near Lauderdale Lakes, just after 12:30 p.m., Tuesday.

Units lost visual of the suspect’s car, but located it again and were able to stop the vehicle at Northwest 28th Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard, near Fort Lauderdale.

7Skyforce hovered over the scene where armed deputies surrounded a blue car.

“There were cops chasing down Sunrise Boulevard,” said Ted Robertson, a witness. “They turn in on 28th, and they hit them.”

Shortly after, Cathy Moleon, showed up to the scene and said one of the suspects that was taken into custody was her 18-year-old son, Kayne Eugene.

“A standby was the one that asked my son for my number because she didn’t approve of how they were doing him, and she called me and let me know where he was at and what was going on,” Moleon said. “I’m talking in the mom perspective: that’s not my son, because he does a lot of things teenagers do, but he’s not nobody to rob.”

Deputies have Northwest 28th Avenue closed as they continue investigating.
