FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A gunman has been caught and cuffed after two people were killed in Pompano Beach. The violent shooting, which also injured three others, was caught on surveillance video.

According to Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony, over 60 rounds were fired at the scene.

When the smoke cleared, 35-year-old Dayvon Johnson and 31-year-old Delana James and her unborn child would die.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday morning that 18-year-old Damian Charmant had been charged for the shooting. He had already been locked up on a seperate, unrelated charge.

He faces two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

The incident happened in February 26, when a car drove by a convenience store in Pompano Beach and unleashed a barrage of bullets at the crowd. Charmant, BSO said, was inside that car with his accomplices and was 17 years old at the time of the shooting.

“These individuals drove by, several of them,” said Tony, “and opened fire on this crowd … using assault rifles and handguns, mercilessly with a total disregard for human life. They’re a menace to society.”

Now, deputies and the family of the victims are asking for the public’s help to catch the other people responsible.

“That was my son,” said Ryan Johnson, “our son, and we’re gonna stand, not just for this particular crime but any crime following.”

“African Americans, we’re killing one another, and it’s so sad because my son was a loving father,” said Lisa Sneed, whose son was killed. “He has four kids. He would give you the shirt off his back, and him and Delana James, they didn’t deserve this. If you see something, you know something, just say something. You don’t have to tell anybody. Just call and shut your mouth. You don’t have to say what you’re going to do, but this has to stop, and I need justice for Dayvon, and I need justice for Delana James.”

If you have any information on this shooting and/or the other accomplices involved, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,500 in this case.
