PARKLAND, Fla. (WSVN) — A Broward Sheriff’s Office K-9 officer was treated to a retirement party, Wednesday.

After 11 years of service, Suzie the bloodhound is celebrating retirement. At the party, she received a mock sheriff’s badge, which was presented to her in front of her fellow bloodhound friends, Wyatt, Amder and Macie.

“In her retirement, she has three acres to roam on, a swimming pool, a bunch of people that want to take care of her,” said Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy Kevin Bolling. “Our search and rescue groups around the county have always volunteered and jumped out to help us when they can. They want to babysit her, and I just can’t let her go.”

Suzie was donated by the parents of Jimmy Ryce, who was abducted and murdered several years ago. The foundation provides free bloodhounds to law enforcement to help in the search of missing children.
