FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - South Florida families stormed the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale to learn about hurricane season.

The museum hosted a Family Day featuring the new Wall of Wind (WOW) exhibit presented by Florida International University.

“We also opened our new WOW exhibit, which is the Wall of Wind exhibit that came from FIU, where they do research to test whether structures will hold up to hurricane force winds,” said Vice President of Visitor Services Marlene Janetos. “It’s just been a really great day to get people encouraged to prepare for the hurricane season.”

7’s Weather team was also on hand to help visitors make their own broadcast in the museum’s storm center.

The event served as a reminder to residents to prepare for the hurricane season, which began June 1.
