FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Broward Health Imperial Point recognized breast cancer survivors with a special event involving nature.
On Tuesday, survivors released butterflies outside the hospital to celebrate their journey.
One breast cancer survivor, Portia Williams, celebrated five years of being cancer-free.
She shared her story to encourage women to take care of their bodies.
“I felt really great by sharing my story,” she said. “I really try and reach out and try to share this story with a lot of people because it helps me. It not only helps me, but hopefully it’ll help them as well.”
Williams encourages women to visit their physicians regularly and get mammograms.
