POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida body armor manufacturer recognized 14 police officers who have been shot while wearing the company’s ballistic vests and helmets in the line of duty.

The officers and their families, from across the country, gathered at Point Blank Enterprises headquarters in Pompano Beach for the ceremony, Monday afternoon.

Executive Vice President Michael Foreman said the company is proud that their equipment may have saved some of the officers’ lives.

“We are here today to recognize a few of those, where we have 14 officers that have joined us who were shot in the line of duty, and we are proud — and some of their families are here also — to say that we helped them survive,” Foreman said.

One of the officers honored had been shot during the Pulse Nightclub shooting in June.
