SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Students and faculty at South Dade Senior High School are holding a blood drive Thursday for their recovering principal, who was injured in a bad accident last month.

Principal Javier Perez lost his legs after getting struck and pinned underneath an SUV at Tamiami Park. He has been hospitalized since April 26 and has undergone multiple surgeries.

Fifty-one-year-old Marilyn Aguilera, bonded out of jail after being charged with DUI earlier this week. Police said she was driving three times over the legal alcohol limit at the time of the accident.

The blood drive will take place at Southwest Miami High School, located along Southwest 50th Street and 88th Court, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
