NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A downed cable line caused the Palmetto Expressway to be shut down for several hours during the Friday morning commute.

The Florida Highway Patrol closed down all east and westbound lanes of the 826 at Northwest 47th Avenue, sometime before 6 a.m.

According to officials, a Comcast cable was blocking the highway.

FHP contacted Florida Power & Light to help clip the lines and remove them from the road.

Comcast officials said they are working to rehang the line and restore service to any impacted customers.

There was an accident as part of the backup that required crews to free a driver from inside a vehicle.

All lanes have since reopened.
