VIRGINIA KEY, FLA. (WSVN) - Police were called to a water treatment plant on Virginia Key after an alligator was spotted roaming in a parking lot, Thursday night.

The alligator was spotted in the parking lot of a water treatment plant at 3989 Rickenbacker Causeway.

The security guard who called 911 on the alligator said he thought it was an old alligator.

“When I saw the alligator, and it is a very old alligator, I just called 911 just for safety conditions,” Jean Rousseau said. “This is the first time I saw that old alligator.”

Florida Fish and Wildlife trappers responded to the scene around 10 p.m. to remove the alligator from the scene.
